This mixtape dropped waaayyyy back (like 2006 - is that considered old school yet?), but in 2006 WhatUpWally? had not started dominating the web waves. All that being said... I first came across the homie Dert while DJing in Los Angeles.

Dert is the long time producer of the hip-hop collective known as The Tunnel Rats (I actually discovered the Tunnel Rats on Napster) and has produced albums for underground legends such as LMNO, Pigeon John, and THE underground legend KRS-ONE.

On Sometimes I Rhyme Slow, Dert flips Jose Gonzales' second Album In Our Nature to craft the instrumentation for artists such as Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, and the Game.
