Better than the Best Hip Hop | Emilio Rojas - Breaking Point Mixtape

By now most of you have realized that the WUW? office could almost be called a small Emilio Rojas fan club. We have had this on replay for the past 24 hours and although, at this point, The Natural is still most of the office's favorite release - Jessica and Danny prefer Life Without Shame, this mixtape continues to build Emilio's reputation as one of the best of the newest school of hip hip.

Make sure that you listen closely to the lyrics. Some can seem outputting on the surface but the story of the song lays deep within the poetic structure of the story.

My Midwestern Adventure | Declining Society Capitalist Growth

Declining Society Capitalist Growth
Middletown, Ohio

The WhatUpWally? staff took the months of December and January to search for personal inspiration. Jessica went to Greece (pictures forthcoming), Brian worked in Steamboat, Eric stayed in Texas to write music, and Francisco traveled the east coast searching record stores for new samples to use in his next project.

What is an American?
Middletown, Ohio
I, well, I went home to Cincinnati. I went home with an unsettled mind. I have been trying to make sense of the nations political division, our confused economic understanding, and what I believe is possible in todays political landscape. I went home searching for clues about the rise and fall of industrialization that left my hometown so bitter and cynical. I wondered and continued to wonder how citizens of cities like Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Cleveland could find refuge in the political rhetoric of the extreme right.

Good News Bad News | Rick Perry is Still Governor of Texas

I found this on my way to teach my introduction to sociology class. I think I could probably use Rick Perry examples for the whole semester...
GOOD NEWS FOR AMERICA
and for the rest of the world
I think we all knew this day would come but I don't think anyone could have imagined how hard the Texas hard ass would fall. The question is... what happens now?
BAD NEW FOR TEXAS
Damn it! I hope Texans are not still buying this bull shit about Perry creating jobs in Texas. I guess we can expect more hatred of the poor, homosexuals, schools, and immigrant children.

Hoping the GOP doesn't run this guy for reelection,

Hip Hop From Down Under | Sparts - Drive

Not sure where we found this dude but the MC from Australia can spit... and the production by Dazed is on point as well. For more hip hop from down under check out Allaussie hip hop.

Mos Def Kills Kanye Outside of Paris | Yasiin Bey - Ns in Poorest Track Download

The artwork alone makes this new Mos Def track a must listen and continues to make WUW? think that there would be no Occupy Wall Street without hip hop.

Listen Now | Asher Roth - Pabst & Jazz Free Mixtape

Dude really is better as a mixtape artist than a major label artist. The production on the album is pretty dope - I think we will look for more beats by the Blended Babies.

"I bet you're in a frat or two, what are you jewish" - Useless

The Other Side of Houston Hip Hop | The Niceguys - The Show LP

No diss to the third coast hip hip conglomerate Swishahouse (you know how much the WUW? crew loves its dirty third rap movement), but the Niceguys represent Houston on a different side of hip hop. This album was released in 2010 but the group is ready to release their new album, James Kelley, in 2012.

Here is the remix of the lead single from James Kelley featuring Port Arthur legend Bun B:
