Pandemic Out Now!

WhatUpWally? is one of Cincinnati hip hop's most dynamic figures. It's not about the clout, it's not about fame, it is about the respect and execution of hip hop. Despite years of experience deejaying and freestyling in top form, we've never gotten a project from the Cincinnati standout.

Enter Pandemic.

Pandemic immediately stands out as WhatUpWally's debut LP. While WhatUpWally? has a role on every track, Wally gives up the spotlight to put Cincinnati music on.

With production by MC Till, Spirit, YoN L.i., Doc Remedy, Mr. Watt, John E. Wndr, and Nick Burke the diversity is heard from the minute you press play.

In an era where egos are always at play WhatUpWally? brings veteran artists and up and coming stars alike to showcase what Cincinnati brings not just to the state of Ohio but the greater landscape of hip hop.

Guest features from Wonder Brown, Franky Free, B. Shields, AC the Entity, Juice Lee, Jay Wiz, Khari, and Kelby Savage barely scratch the surface of the numerous voices and sounds that are pulled from the Nati.

- Big Thanks to Michael Stover for the album write up!

** Big ups to the elite sound guru Kyle Cadena for the dope dope dope mixing and mastering!

From France to #CincinnatiHipHop | Flow-er x Napoleon Maddox - "Ebb and Flow"

"Extract from "FLOW-ER - Hanging Garden EP" out march 20!

Flow-er is an artist based in Besançon, France. He creates music that blurs the lines between Neo-Soul, House, Acid Jazz, Hip-Hop, and so much more. Inspired by artists as diverse as Flying Lotus, Dam-Funk, and the pure sound of analog synths, Flow-er is all about building huge textures and lush soundscapes with his music.

Recently, he announced the release of a brand new EP, Hanging Garden, which will be published on the 20th of March, 2020.

The first thing that you might notice about the EP is certainly the artist’s remarkable capability to endow his work with personality and energy, and the flow of this release is absolutely groundbreaking.

On the songs, each melodic line cuts through the mix, not only in terms of sound, but also in terms of meaning and attitude. The production feels personal and relatable, and it is refreshingly far removed from the usual cliches of the genre. The sound of the instrumentals is also really great, with beats that are sonically balanced, offering a unique blend of next-level power and groundbreaking detail."

#CincinnatiHipHop History | Stop The Violence (Music Video)

The homie Juice Lee put me up on this Cincinnati Hip Hop collaboration from 2011 - featuring ... everyone.

#CincinnatiHipHop | New track from Vibe-One x WhatUpWally? x Spirit - "No Justice, No Love, No Peace" Prod. MC Till

New track from Vibe-One x WhatUpWally? x Spirit x MC Till

Everybody's Hip-hop Label head, MC Till, invited Vibe-One, WhatUpWally? and Spirit Real to collaborate and spit that hot fire over a beat he cooked up.

We jumped in the booth and left with a finished track in three hours.

The results were so dope that we decided we had to drop the track now while we are in the middle of one of the most important political moments of our generation.

The message of the track speaks for itself. We can't afford to sit around and wait anymore. It is time that we stand up and demand that our leaders start putting the people first!

Big thanks to MC Till for bringing everyone together and Spirit for holding it down behind the boards.

This is only a small sample of what's to come so stay tuned for more dopity dopeness!!

Understanding Systemic Racism | A Brief Response to White Ignorance on The Facebook

This is a response to a few ignorant responses on a recent Facebook post (and many Facebook posts like it).

"Racism" is a system of racial oppression that benefits white people by granting them the privileges of whiteness.

The whole system is built on anti-black (and anti- other people that are negatively racialized as non-white) ideology, stereotypes, and other justifications for the treatment of black people as inferior.

Racism is a system of white power and black oppression. Blacks and other "people of color" lack the institutional and systemic power to racially oppress white people - - thus racism is not something that blacks and people of color can enact against white people.

SO NO - not everyone can be "racist."

Racism is anti-black and anti- other racialized people considered "not white."

The system of racial oppression is global. The "Western" "European" "Amerikkkan" world was constructed as white and superior because of it's whiteness to justify the exploitation, murder, genocide, rape, and torture of the "non-western" world that was constructed as "black" or "not white" and thus inferior.

When you talk about "anyone can be racist" "reverse racism" "racism against whites" you are regurgitating rhetorical tropes created by explicit white supremacists (from the Klan to the Nixon administration) to deny the continuing significance of race and racism in Amerikkka.

Most of you don't know the history you were taught nor the history you weren't taught and have no clue where your words and ideas come from.

Your ignorance is understood when you don't know but you have now been given an introductory lesson. You are no longer ignorant. If you choose to ignore these teachings and continue to regurgitate the rhetorical tropes of white supremacy then you are now held accountable as an unrepentant white supremacist.

I have spent the last decade studying this shit in depth so I have no desire to argue with people that haven't researched or experienced the issues of race and racism AND HAVE NO DESIRE TO LEARN.

If you really want to start learning, I am more than willing to talk it out and recommend great reading materials.

But just because you believe shit to be the way you believe it to be is not enough for me to waste my time in a debate.

Hope you keep reading and learning and that one day you have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Here is a blog post I wrote a couple years ago as a brief introduction to the concept of systemic racism. It should provide a good starting point for your journey.

Committed to fighting white supremacy and racial oppression,
